ICWA media watch unit as of 2014 aims to collect at random traditional Australian print and electronic media. This is primarily to highlight the level of media saturation, sensationalism and cognitive bias inherent in Australian media’s editorial policy when it comes to reporting news about Muslims or Islam. It is only ABC Radio National that stands out as a fair reporting entity that may be considered as a quality objective media source.
The late eminent Palestinian scholar Edward Said ‘s classic: Reporting Islam (1980) is taken as a standard text to measure the level of prejudice when it comes to reporting Islam in Australia.
