Rivervale Mosque ( Islamic Community Centre) was formally established in 1977 in the suburb of Rivervale. It is the head office of Islamic Council of Western Australia as a State branch of Australian Federation of Islamic Councils. The halal certification of meat products and food outlets in metropolitan Perth is administered from Rivervale Mosque under religious guidance of the Imam and the council’s halal certification subcommittee.
Rivervale Mosque represents quintessential 1970s style architecture of basic prayer hall, kitchen and offices designed from an old residential house. Redeveloped in 1985 and refurbished in 2012. The mosque caters for Perth Muslims from around Victoria Park, Carlisle, Burswood and East Perth. It remains popular with Perth taxi drivers and students.
